about the project In the book 'Act Local! Perspektiven landlicher Raume' the discussion started on the Act Local! conference is reported:

Wolfgang Kil sees the important demographic and economic changes in the eastern ‘Bundesländern’ as a logical outcome of rationalizing-processes in a global economy: the global capitalism eats its children.

Local and regional identity are the words that Thies Schröder mentions to help making the abstract starting point tangible. He sees the ‘getting together’ of city and rural area, as a consequence of technological and economic developments, as an opportunity to define area-bound identities anew.

Heidi Pretterhofer, Dieter Spath and Kai Vöckler illustrate their ideas about the contrast city/village with the example of Niederösterreich. They use the word ‘Rurbanism’ as a characterization of the rural environment as paradigma for settlementprinciples.

The texts by Stefanie Krebs und Claudia Büttner take art-interventions in rural/urban invironments as starting point, for example theatre- and participation projects.

Wapke Feenstra completes the perspective with an artists view. She describes her interest in working with local identities in participation projects.
in project language Im Buch 'Act Local!
