The International Village Show
year 2016
location GERMANY, Leipzig
region East
host GfZK

about the travel In 2015/2016 the converted Gartenhaus of Leipzig’s Museum of Contemporary Art was the one place from where to follow what’s going on in the villages: The International Village Show was Myvillages’ first prominent museum solo exhibition. The Gartenhaus had no heating and the Bibliobox was set up in show 4 (Winter 2015-2016) in the main building of the museum. The library-team of the museum took care of a parallel book-shelf program that was set up by Vera Lauf.

about the host The Leipzig Museum for Contemporary Art was founded on 10th November 1990. At first, without its own premises, the organisation held exhibitions in the underground hall of the Alte Messe, in the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, and at other diverse locations around Leipzig. Since 1998 the GfZK-Villa by the Johannapark is the home of GfZK (www.gfzk.de) a few decades of commissions, an art collection, exhibitions, publications, art prizes and curatorial projects make it one of the leading institutes in contemporary art in Germany. The International Village Show was a mutual spacial experiment that was initiated by Myvillages with curator and director Franciska Zolyom and curator Julia Schaefer.
