about the project Every landscape is impressive when you get to know its geology. After a lot of scouring, shifting and a couple of natural disasters, Limburg is now a habitable piece of earth’s crust. It is cultivated and the landscape produces quartz sand, potatoes, apples and gravel. The landscape continues to move and the product travels to the consumer. Cultivators look after the natural habitat using sheep or create a new one after soil extraction. Dutch artist Wapke Feenstra photographed the moving landscape in six Limburg locations for a year. The result of her explorations are presented on this DVD and at the website.

in project language Elk landschap is imposant als je de geologie ervan leert kennen. Door schuren, schuiven en wat natuurrampen is Limburg nu een bewoonbaar stukje aardkorst. Dat wordt bewerkt en het landschap produceert kwartszand, aardappelen, appels en grind. Landschap blijft bewegen en het product gaat op reis richting consument. Bewerkers doen natuurbeheer met schaapskuddes of leggen nieuwe natuur aan na een bodemwinning. Op zes Limburgse locaties is een jaar lang het bewegende landschap gefotografeerd door de Nederlandse kunstenaar Wapke Feenstra. Het resultaat van haar verkenningen is verwerkt tot deze presentatie op DVD en/of website.
