about the project Begoña Movellán and Lara Almarcegui decided to make a project in an abandoned train station in Aragon. The national railway line passes through the little village of Fuentes de Ebro, a village that has little to offer and is anyway too close to the city to be a tourist attraction. Almarcegui thought that spending a week there would give the artists a good sense of the place. They opened the train station, which had been closed and abandoned for over twenty years, and turned it into a free hotel for a week. The hotel was packed the whole week with guests, villagers and visitors.
about artist and participants This week-long project transformed an abandoned train station into a popular hotel. Once the project ended, the inhabitants of Fuentes de Ebro wanted to keep it going as a meeting place for the village.
The artist Lara Almarcegui (Saragossa, 1972) studied at Ateliers 63 in Amsterdam from 1997-1999. She lives and works in Rotterdam.
